by Bill Wertman, BBH CEO
Big Bend Hospice (BBH) raised its minimum wage to $15 per hour in the spring of 2020. “Setting a minimum of $15 an hour for our employees is an important goal toward creating a more livable wage and establishing a more comprehensive benefits package for BBH staff. The leadership of BBH is committed to this goal” says, CEO Bill Wertman.
Under the BBH strategic plan, one of the five tenets is being “an employer of choice” in the diverse communities that we serve. As one of the largest employers in the big bend area, raising the minimum wage for employees is a critical step toward satisfying this goal.
The rate adjustment impacted 20 workers representing both clinical and non-clinical staff, including our Certified Nursing Assistants. This standard will be used for all new hires.
“This is long overdue but it is something I’ve wanted to implement since becoming CEO earlier this year,” says Wertman.
