Administrative Assistant – Big Bend Hospice FoundationFT

Supervisor: M. Strickland

This position will be responsible for correspondence with Donor families. Maintain mailing list and work with other departments/staff to assure the accuracy of data. Provide monthly/daily reports to Foundation President as requested. Handle donor and family inquiries/manage electronic donor records. Work with Special Events and/or Fundraisers.

Requirements: Must be highly proficient with technology. Must have two years of Administrative Support experience, computer software experience; Donor Software Management Experience, Windows and Basic Operating Systems, ability to multitask, excellent customer service skills, organizational skills, ability to manage multiple tasks and work independently, good grammar, spelling and proofing skills.


Clinical Educator, RN – FT

Supervisor: L. Strickland

The RN clinical educator works collaboratively with individuals and groups, acting as a resource and utilizing creative teaching methods, to meet the educational needs of the organization. The role includes developing, evaluating, and timely updating of educational programs and plans to include: orientation, preceptorships, individual tutorials, skills practice sessions, certification review courses, the electronic medical record and specific identified educational needs. The RN clinical educator cross trains with other training and development staff, including the manager, to be able perform all duties as needed.

Requirements: An active Florida RN license, valid Florida driver’s license, reliable transportation and current automobile insurance are required. Hospice experience, clinical nurse educator certification, nursing educator masters and/or CHPN preferred.


Nurse Practitioner – APRNFT

Supervisor: N. Suchak

This full-time nurse practitioner (NP) position will work in collaboration with the Hospice Physician and Hospice interdisciplinary team (IDT) to provide hospice services to patients and families in an inpatient, home, or facility setting. Responsibilities include: maintain a regular schedule of clinical participation for BBH Service area and share call schedule with other medical providers to provide 24-hour, 7-day/week coverage for BBH patients; perform face-to-face visits as part of the (re)certification process and help develop and implement plans of care; assist in developing management plans for pain and other symptoms; perform required documentation and provide education to patient/families. Performs other duties as requested by the Medical Director and/or CEO. Stays abreast of all state and federal regulations/statues and licensure requirements.

Requirements: Must have current APRN License and a Master’s Degree from an accredited Nurse Practitioner Program. BLS also required and 1 year of APRN experience preferred. Previous Hospice experience is also preferred.


Healthcare Facilities Marketer – FT

Supervisor: S. Davidson

This position will serve as a Hospice & Palliative Care Liaison with assigned healthcare providers (skilled nursing facilities, assisted living facilities, and memory clinics) seeking to ensure ease of access to care, reporting any issues to internal key stakeholders, and aiding in resolutions. They will cultivate, develop, and enhance contractual and care relationships with assigned facilities. They will coordinate with Training & Development team to create, provide, and document presentations and in-services (with CEUs) on hospice and palliative care. They will be responsible for collecting, monitoring, and analyzing data, including census, patient referral patterns, and county demographics, from assigned healthcare providers (skilled nursing facilities, assisted living facilities, and memory clinics.)

Requirements: LPN or Bachelor’s degree (B.A.), minimum of 2 years’ experience working with customer service or sales in the healthcare industry. A strong candidate will possess exceptional interpersonal skills (building strong relationships), excellent verbal and written communication skills, and ability to work independently to oversee assigned healthcare facilities.


Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) – Care and Comfort Team – FT

Under the supervision of an RN, the LPN provides nursing care to patients and families in their home, incorporating psychosocial, cultural, physical, spiritual, and biological components and appropriate nursing intervention as identified in the patient/family plan of care, developed by the IDT. Demonstrates clinical skills regarding application of Hospice Clinical and Administrative policy and procedures such as: pain medication titration, symptom management, and patient/family relationships. Communicates progress and needs of patients and families to other interdisciplinary team [IDT] members including physician.

Requirements: Current Florida licensure as a Licensed Practical Nurse. Minimum of three years of experience in medical/surgical nursing. Hospice/Home Health experience preferred. The schedule for this position is Monday through Friday – no weekends.


Music Therapist – PRN

Supervisor: S. Droessler

Eligible for $5,000 Sign-on bonus**

Board-Certified Music Therapist will provide care to patients in the 8 county BBH Service Area. Responsibilities include planning, implementing, and documenting music therapy interventions with hospice patients from a variety of age groups and their family members, working as part of an interdisciplinary team, and collaborating with other music therapy staff. Occasional evening or weekend hours for community events and bereavement groups as assigned.

Requirements: A valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and current automobile insurance are required. MT-BC (Music Therapist board certified) certification through the Certification Board for Music therapists (CBMT) or current eligibility for exam with subsequent successful completion required. Strong musical skills, clinical understanding, hospice experience, and experience with electronic medical record system documentation preferred.


Payroll/Benefits Administrator – FT

Supervisor: T. Cardosi

The Payroll/Benefits Administrator will be responsible for coordinating and performing all aspects of the company payroll function in compliance with company policies, federal and multi-state laws. This position will assist the Accounting department with some Accounts Payable and Cash responsibilities.


Requirements: 5 years current experience in payroll & benefits administration. Accounting Degree or certificate from a college or technical school preferred. Experience with payroll, Kronos, UKG or similar system preferred. Strong knowledge of tax and wage laws and benefit plans. Thorough knowledge and understanding of payroll- and benefits-related laws and requirements, including but not limited to ERISA, COBRA, HIPAA/HITECH, PPACA, FMLA,FLSA, Internal Revenue Code Section 125, and payroll tax laws are required. Although a high school diploma or equivalent is the minimal requirement for this position, an associate’s or bachelor’s degree in business or accounting is preferred.


Professional Healthcare LiaisonFT

Supervisor: S. Davidson

The Professional Healthcare Liaison serves as a link between Big Bend Hospice and the communities it serves. In this role you will work to Identify, cultivate, and maintain community partnerships by representing Big Bend Hospice at civic, social, and professional organizations in assigned counties. You will Serve as the marketing liaison with all assigned physicians, skilled nursing facilities, and assisted living facilities. You will also manage advisory councils in assigned counties to help them develop a strategic marketing plan for their community to help build census, recruit volunteers, and provide hospice education.

Requirements: BA/BS in public relations, communications, or a related field and/or a minimum of two years’ experience in marketing, public relations, or related field; preferably in healthcare.


RN Clinical Team Manager – Care and ComfortFT

This is a full-time RN position which will manage clinical resources for the Leon SNF and ALF interdisciplinary team and determine the daily utilization of staff. Enhances clinical practice of the team by performing as a role model, mentor, instructor and resource person.

Requirements: Must have a minimum of five (5) years of nursing experience and at least two (2) years of nursing experience preferably in hospice or home health. In-patient nursing experience preferred.


RN Hospice HouseFTNights

This position will work primarily nights in the Hospice House including weekends and holidays.

Requirements: Must have current Florida RN license and a minimum of 3 years RN/LPN experience preferably in home health or hospice.

Social Worker – FT

This full-time social work position’s responsibilities include active and cooperative engagement with members of the interdisciplinary team to facilitate optimal patient and family coordination of care. Provision of psychosocial assessments to support the expressed wishes of patients/families and identify unanticipated needs to help patients/families make informed decisions. Empower patients and families through the provision of education related to end-of-life care, advanced directives, long-term care planning, safety, and financial benefits for which a patient or caregiver may be entitled.

Requirements: Must have a Master’s degree in Social Work, LCSW preferred. Two years of home health or hospice experience preferred.


Spiritual Care CounselorFT

Supervisor: K. Snow

This position is responsible for providing spiritual counseling and support to hospice patients and families in accordance with the plan of care. Duties include documentation on plan of care, counseling and spiritual support to hospice patients and families, attending team meetings and participating in treatment planning, and networking with community clergy to share information about hospice services as assigned. Will be required to complete ongoing education requirements and perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements: Position requires excellent interpersonal and communication skills, the ability to work well with diverse groups and diverse healthcare systems, and to adapt to a variety of changing circumstances and settings. Denominational or faith community endorsement strongly preferred. Must have Master of Divinity degree or equivalent (i.e. M.A.C.E., M.A.T.S., Th. M) from an accredited seminary or theological school and Clinical Pastoral Education within a health care setting (1 unit minimum required, 4 units preferred).


Transitions Supportive Care (TSC) Positions

APRN – FT

Transitions Supportive Care Director – FT

The Transitions Supportive Care (TSC) Director leads and manages all aspects of the functions and operations of TSC. Responsible for daily operations, including but not limited to compliance, adherence to budgets, appropriate billing, scheduling, and to ensure efficient operations and positive customer relationships. Directly responsible for supervising administrative staff and shares equal supervisory responsibility with the TSC Medical Director.

Requirements: Associate or Bachelor’s degree required, in Business, Nursing, Social Work or related field. Master of Business Administration and/or Health Care Administration preferred.
