As we observe Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Big Bend Hospice takes a moment to reflect on the legacy of our former CEO, Cathy Adkison. Cathy led our organization with grace and dedication until her passing in 2019. Her journey with breast cancer was marked by strength, resilience, and an inspiring spirit that touched the lives of everyone around her.
Cathy taught us that life is precious, and that tomorrow is never guaranteed. Even in the face of her own challenges, she remained a beacon of hope and inspiration, reminding us to cherish each moment. Her compassionate leadership and commitment to our hospice mission have left an incredible mark on our organization and the community we serve.

Cathy’s personal motto: “We’re planting seeds”, serves as a reminder of the importance of nurturing hope and kindness in the lives of those we care for.
Cathy’s daughter, Katie, expresses that “Big Bend Hospice continues to achieve Cathy’s dreams and honors her legacy and goals for our community. She would be so proud of our accomplishments.”

This Breast Cancer Awareness Month, let us honor Cathy by spreading her message of hope. Together, we can raise awareness, support those affected by breast cancer, and continue the vital work that Cathy championed throughout her life.
Join us in remembering Cathy Adkison and celebrating her legacy as we strive to make a positive impact in our community. Together, let’s plant the seeds of hope and compassion, ensuring that her vision lives on in all that we do.
