New Resale Shop Expands Community Support for Hospice Patients and Families While Advancing Big Bend Hospice’s Mission Across the Region!

Big Bend Hospice is proud to announce the grand opening of its second Oak Tree Treasures location in Tallahassee. Community members, supporters and friends are invited to attend a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 10 a.m. Friday, June 26, 2026, at 3802 N. Monroe St., celebrating this milestone and the continued growth of the organization’s mission to serve those in need.

The first Oak Tree Treasures Resale Shop, located at 3260 Mahan Dr., opened in January 2025 and has since grown into a community hub where supporters can shop, donate, and volunteer in support of Big Bend Hospice.

Through Oak Tree Treasures, community support is directly transformed into meaningful care for patients and families. Proceeds from Oak Tree Treasures directly support unfunded and underfunded programs at Big Bend Hospice. These funds help provide patient care, medications, and financial assistance for individuals who lack insurance or are unable to afford end-of-life services, ensuring compassionate care is available to those who need it most.

“Opening our second Oak Tree Treasures location is a testament to the generosity and heart of this community,” said Amanda Gustafson, Chief Operating Officer. “What began as a dream has grown into something truly special, and that growth belongs to every person who has shopped with us, donated to us, or given their time as a volunteer. Every dollar raised here goes directly to supporting hospice patients, and we are so proud to expand that mission. We invite everyone in this community to come and be a part of it. Whether you shop, donate, or volunteer, there is a place for you here at Oak Tree Treasures.”

For more than 40 years, Big Bend Hospice has provided care in Leon, Jefferson, Madison, Taylor, Franklin, Gadsden, Liberty, and Wakulla counties, and has continued to expand its services into Calhoun, Jackson, Gulf, Holmes, Bay, and Washington counties.

Big Bend Hospice hopes to establish an Oak Tree Treasures location in every county it serves, and this second location marks an important step toward that goal as it lays out the foundation for future expansion.

Since the opening of Oak Tree Treasures, Retail Operations Manager Chloe Bassham has played a leading role in the store’s growth and development. Bassham describes the experience as a rewarding journey of learning and community connection.

“This has been a learning journey, one that started from the ground up and grew into something far more meaningful than we could have imagined. Along the way, we’ve learned, adapted, and grown together. Whether working with our donors, members of the community, or our volunteers, we’ve built genuine relationships that feel more like family, and that’s what makes Oak Tree Treasures so special.”

Community members are invited to donate gently used items such as clothing, furniture and artwork in support of Oak Tree Treasures. Donations will be accepted during the ribbon-cutting ceremony on Friday, June 26, 2026, and Tuesday through Saturday from 10a.m. to 4 p.m.

Both Oak Tree Treasures locations operate Tuesday through Saturday from 10a.m. to 5p.m.
