This year has brought innumerable challenges and, with the peak of hurricane season upon us, we wanted to ensure Transitions clients are well prepared for any upcoming significant weather event.

Thanks to our amazing volunteers, as well as incredible community members and businesses who graciously offered help and support, we were able to create and distribute 168 hurricane preparedness bags to our clients. Each bag included a local disaster relief resource guide, gallon of water, water purification tablets, and high-calorie snacks.

We would like to thank our Big Bend Hospice and AmeriCorps volunteers for helping us put together and deliver these bags to our clients throughout the Big Bend region; Tallahassee physician Dr. Maribel U. Lockwood, whose donation helped fund this endeavor; Scott Maphis of local outdoor goods retailers Trail and Ski and Cadence Running for his contribution and guidance, as well as our neighborhood Walmart on Mahan for their donation of a pallet of water. Thanks as well to Lisa Bretz and the Area Agency on Aging for North Florida for their donation of hand fans and Scott Harrell and Home Instead Senior Care of Tallahassee for their donation of pens. A final thanks to the participants of this year’s inaugural Fall Fling Tennis Tournament for their donations.
