As part of Big Bend Hospice’s recent restructuring aimed at supporting long-term growth and innovation, the organization is pleased to announce the return of Joel Garr as Chief Information Officer (CIO) for Seven Oaks Health (SOH) and Big Bend Hospice (BBH), effective August 1, 2025.
Joel previously served in this role for several years and brings with him extensive experience in healthcare technology, a deep understanding of Big Bend Hospice’s systems, and a strong commitment to the organization’s mission. His leadership will play a critical role as BBH continues to advance patient-centered care through our service area.
In his role as CIO, Joel will lead the management, strategy, and execution of Big Bend Hospice’s information services. He and his team are responsible for maintaining the technical infrastructure and implementing projects that align with BBH’s mission and goals.
A native of Utah, Joel holds a degree in Information Systems and Technology from Weber State University. He is a Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) and a Lean Six Sigma Green Belt. With more than 20 years of experience in healthcare technology, Joel has spent the past decade serving as IT Director for nonprofit hospices, including five years with Big Bend Hospice.
Throughout his career, he has worked in a variety of healthcare environments, from large nonprofit health systems to start-up physician practices. He began his professional journey with Intermountain Healthcare and affiliated physician groups and has also provided consulting services to small and mid-sized healthcare organizations.
