Meet Mrs. Willie Lou Gutsch, also known as “Miss Lou.” Her journey into the world of sewing began as a child, inspired by her mother, Mrs. Willie Belle Bell. Her mother was a member of the Big Bend Hospice Quilting Volunteer Team.

Despite the challenges of the pandemic, Miss Lou is bringing back this cherished tradition. She’s honoring her mother’s legacy with a heartfelt donation of nine handmade quilts to the Margaret Z. Dozier Hospice House and the First Commerce Center for Compassionate Care at TMH. Each quilt is not just a blanket; it’s a unique masterpiece that showcases her creativity and dedication.

Joining Miss Lou in this beautiful endeavor is her longtime friend, Mrs. Robbie Raynes. Together, they use their talents to support Big Bend Hospice, crafting handmade creations that provide warmth and comfort to patients and their families. A special shoutout goes to Marianne at The Quilt Peddler for providing the finishing touch to Miss Lou’s designs.

Thank you, Miss Lou and Miss Robbie, for your incredible commitment and generosity. Your efforts are an example of love and care within our community, and we are grateful for the warmth you share.
